San Diego Social Media Symposium
The San Diego Social Media Symposium was a hit! We heard from some of the top minds in San Diego about social media – and we hope the event was the beginning of an ongoing dialogue we can have with attendees and members of the San Diego community about this important subject.
Check out our blog post on the event, along with the tweet stream. You can also view videos of our panelists offering important takeaways from the event.
The San Diego Social Media Symposium – presented by Nuffer, Smith, Tucker and San Diego State University – was held Friday, Oct. 23, 2009. The event brought together leaders in public relations, academia, and traditional and new media, with local business leaders. The discussion centered around the impact social media is having on our respective industries, and opportunities for all to prosper in the social media landscape.
Why it Matters
Social media is impacting many things – and some would argue everything – we do. It’s a fundamental shift in power and information flow from traditional institutions, such as government, print and broadcast media, and companies, to people – and it can no longer be ignored. Savvy organizations need to learn about and embrace social media in order to build long-term relationships with their audiences.
